about the artist
Anna Dunne
My creative process is a journey of exploration, where the artwork often emerges before its meaning becomes clear. This visual confrontation allows me to understand the emotions I’ve channelled into my work, often leading to surprising moments of healing, especially in my battles with anxiety and self-doubt.
I value the importance of slowing down, recalibrating and appreciating what matters most. Creating my artwork is integral to this philosophy. It has become my way of life.
My previous career, as an interior designer, has equipped me with the skills and insights to appreciate that art does not exist in isolation; it exists in context. An understanding of the space my artwork might occupy and why people engage with art has helped to shape the aesthetic qualities of my work.
Born and raised in South Africa, my professional experiences have taken me through France, the US and ultimately the UK. I have now settled in South Yorkshire on the borders of the Peak District, where its natural beauty is a source of inspiration and a calming anchor that keeps me grounded.
Each piece I create is a reflection of my journey and a testament to the healing power of art. I aim to produce work that is not only meaningful to me but also resonates with others, inviting them to reflect on their own experiences and emotions.
