Artwork & Framing
What is polymer clay?
Polymer clay is a synthetic modeling clay made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC). It is cured at relatively low temperatures and has excellent colour retention even after baking. It is durable and relatively lightweight compared to more traditional clays, which makes it a great choice for creating wall art.
Is cured polymer clay typically considered ceramic?
No, polymer clay can mimic the appearance of ceramic but it is a synthetic material made from PVC. It is cured at much lower temperatures than ceramic clays, which are typical fired in a kiln.
Your work often refers to polymer clay canes, what are they?
A polymer clay cane is a cylinder of clay with a consistent pattern running through its entire length. The pattern is created by layering and shaping different colours of clay into a form that remains consistent when the cane is sliced in cross-section.
How is each artwork framed?
I frame all of my artwork in-house in my studio using real wood veneer Italian mouldings. Framing specs may differ from artwork to artwork - please refer to each product page for more info. In general, I frame my artwork in tray frames with a 5-10mm shadow gap surround. It is framed exposed - without glass - as I believe this is the best method to showcase the artwork.
Can I specify the frame finish?
My collection of Limited Editions offer a choice of frame finishes (Black, Dark Walnut, Light Walnut and Natural Oak); and wallpapered panels (Ecru, Noir, Noisette and Taupe). My collection of Original Artwork is sold as framed.
Do you offer frame finish samples?
If you are unsure of what frame finish or wallpaper colour to choose from, I can send you some samples. Please get in touch here and let me know what colourways you would like. Unfortunately samples are only available for delivery to the UK. If you are not based in the UK then still do reach out as I would be happy to send you more detailed images of any finishes on offer.
Is it possible to buy your artwork unframed?
My collection of Original Artwork is sold as framed. My collection of Limited Editions are sold framed to order with the customer's choice of finishes from our range. I do not offer selling artwork from either collection unframed. If you have a specific idea of what you would like the artwork to look like then I would be happy to work with you on a commission. You can read more about my commissions here.
Can I change the frame at a later date?
Any future changes to the frames of artwork already purchased from anna.studio is at the customer's own risk. It is my advice, as the artist, to not change the frame as I create each artwork as a whole, not only in appearance, but also in the way it is constructed and fixed together. If you are set on changing the frame please seek professional advice from a certified framer.
What hanging fixtures are included with each artwork?
Hanging fixtures for artworks in my Original Artwork collection may vary according to size and weight; please refer to each product page for hanging fixture specifications. Artworks from my Limited Editions collection are equipped with keyhole hangers which ensures the artwork can be hung as flush to the wall as possible.
Care advice for polymer clay artwork
Though a relatively hardy medium, polymer clay pieces may crack, chip, or break if handled improperly. Please keep artwork in it’s protective packaging until you are ready to hang it. Take care to fix artwork to the wall securely and consult professional advice where necessary.
Never position artwork in direct sunlight. Do not hang artwork directly above a radiator or fireplace. This may discolour and/or damage it irreversibly.
Do not clean any aspect of the framed artwork with any liquid, alcohol or detergents. Over time the artwork may gather dust. Wipe away any dust with a dry microfibre cloth or feather duster. Do not wipe with water.
Is there an expiry period for my gift card?
Gift cards are valid for 12 months from the day of purchase.
